Blair Lewis, MD – Gastroenterology
Blair Lewis is a board-certified gastroenterologist in private practice in New York City. Dr. Lewis graduated Dartmouth College and attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and one of the Medical Directors of Carnegie Hill Endoscopy, an ambulatory endoscopy center he founded. He is past president of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the New York Academy of Gastroenterology. He served on the Board of Governors of the American College of Gastroenterology for 6 years. Dr. Lewis has written over 72 scientific papers and 27 chapters and he has authored 3 books; all in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. He was the primary investigator for the first clinical trial of capsule endoscopy for the small intestine and was also the primary investigator for the first clinical trial for the colon capsule. Dr. Lewis helped develop Carnegie Hill Endoscopy’s charitable program. It is the first private ambulatory surgical center to affiliate with Federally Qualified Health Centers to provide free screening care to those without insurance. This program has evolved into the NYC Department of Health Community Cares Project which has provided approximately 2,200 screening colonoscopies to uninsured residents of NYC since 2012. Dr. Lewis also serves on the Board of AliveAndKickn.org, a charitable organization dedicated to increase awareness and prevention of colorectal cancer and increase early detection through screening and genetic testing.
