Mission Statement
A note from Dr. Ruben Cohen Founder of Virtual House Call Doctors NYC
As a long-time New Yorker and doctor in Manhattan, I’m always looking for ways to help improve the health and well being of individuals and families in New York and the surrounding communities. At this troubling time with the COVID-19 virus, I believe it’s more important than ever to do whatever possible to help those who are feeling helpless and concerned, not only about the virus itself but other health issues. It could be someone with tooth pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, or any other health issue of concern. And that’s exactly what led me to the creation of Virtual House Call Doctors NYC.
Telemedicine: Technology to deliver convenient healthcare 24/7
As some of you may already know, telemedicine has been around for decades. It actually first started through the use of telephones to help doctors connect with patients in remote locations. But thanks to advances in technology, it’s now a common and important tool we use to increase accessibility and efficiency in healthcare. Given our current situation with the virus, it’s become a great tool to help patients immediately connect with doctors – without the risk of infection from other patients.
Our mission at Virtual House Call Doctors NYC
In creating Virtual House Call Doctors NYC, I first contacted the best and most experienced board-certified doctors I know in New York to see if they’d want to participate – and virtually almost all did. My intention was to offer just about every type of medical and dental service and specialty: from internal and emergency medicine to pediatrics, OB/GYN, general and pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and more.
Knowing how difficult it can be to reach a doctor right now for prescriptions, I also wanted to offer the availability of getting new prescriptions or having them refilled, so that’s also become part of what we offer.
How to contact us to get your free screening
If you live in New York City, Long Island or Westchester and are looking for any type of medical care and don’t know where to turn, pleasetext us at 646-520-0628 for a free screening 24/7 to assess your condition. If the outcome of the free screening indicates that you or a family member needs a more thorough consultation or in-person visit, we offer three safe and convenient options: a comprehensive telemedicine consultation, a house call to your home, or one of our doctors will meet you at his or her office. We’ll do whatever is required and most convenient for you.
From our family of physicians to you and your family, we hope you stay safe and healthy during this period. And we also hope you’ll contact us if you or a family member is in need of immediate care concerning any health related issue. We’ll all get through this, together.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Ruben Cohen
